    • Watercolour painting has always been my passion. I have been painting seriously for 20 years.. I love painting landscapes, still life and animals in fact any subject that takes my fancy. I love painting at the scene, "you cant beat sitting there and painting from life" I now have my own studio based at my home where I can just emerse myself in the subject. I live in the small mining village of Langwith (Derbyshire), where i was brought up and over the years I have painted all the local collieries, I have been teaching watercolours for 10 years and currently teach over 150 people per week at my six watercolour classes, these have been established since 1999. I also hold many watercolour painting workshops & holidays this year will be the 12th trip, this gives my students a chance to work from nature. Over the years I have held many personal exhibitions, along with participating in several art shows. My key areas of expertise are working with students, art groups giving talks and demonstrations and working with children in the local area at historic places such as Creswell Crags

    Matthews paintings are best noted for the amazing attention to detail and the wide range of subjects he covers. LANDSCAPE, STILL LIFE AND ANIMALS.
